The ESP-sim project, funded by UrbanBuzz, set about simulating a process of 'enabled self procurement' in which future residents of communities became the developers of their own homes. The concept for YouCanPlan was born, developing 3D simulation software that could show prospective residents a potential community in which they could develop their future home. The software was developed so that prospective resident user could find a plot within their budget and select a basic house design to build on that plot, choosing from a range of customisable pattern book house designs which in turn offered a range of choices to suit budget and lifestyle preferences. Once assembled on the plot, the user could future configure the house design and explore the layout of the home, assessing for instance a specific view of the community from a bedroom or living room window.

Slider Studio's development team collaborated with University of East London School of Computing and Technology to develop the first simulation of ESP in YouCanPlan. Our team continues to develop this software in the search of our first pilot ESP developments.
